100 Chinese linked to POGO scams deported

MANILA, Philippines — Up to 100 Chinese nationals allegedly involved in Philippine offshore gaming operations (POGO) and scamming activities were deported yesterday, the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission said.
According to PAOCC, the deportees boarded a Philippine Airlines flight to China, which departed the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1 at 10:40 a.m.
The deportation was carried out in coordination with the Bureau of Immigration and the Chinese embassy, following joint law enforcement operations that led to the arrest of the foreigners.
Authorities said the Chinese nationals were apprehended in scam hubs across the country.
Raids were conducted in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu on Aug. 31, 2024; Silang, Cavite on Jan. 16; Parañaque on Feb. 20, and Pasay on Feb. 27.
Officials of PAOCC said the deportation is part of the government’s intensified crackdown on foreigners engaged in illegal online gaming and fraudulent activities.
The initiative follows President Marcos’ directive to dismantle organized crime rings and impose a nationwide ban on offshore gaming operations.
