5 hurt in fire crossing Las Piñas, Parañaque

MANILA, Philippines — A resident who poured water into cooking oil caused a fire that struck residential homes in the cities of Las Piñas and Parañaque, leaving five people injured yesterday.
The victims, including children, suffered minor burns, according to Senior Inspector Maria Luisa Sancha Andrade, operations chief of the Bureau of Fire Protection in Las Piñas.
The BFP said the fire broke out at 1:02 p.m. at Samatierra Compound in Barangay Almanza Uno, Las Piñas and spread to several homes in Barangay BF Homes.
Arson probers declared fire out at 1:40 p.m.
Over 150 people, mostly informal settlers, were affected by the fire. They are taking shelter at a covered court.
